UN Town Hall: The Next Secretary-General Registration for United Nations Staff Members

A debate entitled “UN Town Hall: The Next Secretary-General” will take place on Thursday, 23 July 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the General Assembly Hall, with candidates for the position of Secretary-General.

UN staff members are invited to participate in this town hall, which marks an important milestone in the selection and appointment process of the next Secretary-General.

This town hall will provide a unique opportunity to hear directly from the candidates as they share their visions for the future of the organization and respond to questions on key global challenges facing the United Nations.

UN Staff members are cordially invited to attend the event in person and, as seating in the General Assembly Hall is limited, are requested to register in advance.

• Doors open for seating: 4:00 p.m.

• Doors close: 4:45 p.m.

• Entry to the General Assembly Hall will not be permitted after 4:45 p.m.

Registration 

As seating in the General Assembly Hall is limited, staff members wishing to attend the event are requested to complete the registration form through the designated registration link by Thursday, 16 July 2026, 11:59 p.m.

Staff members may submit one question during the registration. Questions will be randomly selected, and staff members whose question is selected will be notified accordingly.

UN staff members must present their UN grounds pass to access the General Assembly Hall.

While a limited number of seats will be reserved for Member States, observers of the General Assembly, United Nations staff, and civil society representatives, additional seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Should the General Assembly Hall reach full capacity, a live stream of the event will be available in Conference Room 3.
