Working Group to prepare for next Council
Message from FAFICS President Darshak Shah, 7 October 2026
Dear colleagues,
First of all, I wish to thank all of you who have provided valuable comments and suggestions on how to make our future Council sessions more focused, engaging and productive.
As I have mentioned in my previous communication about this, I have asked Vice President Clemens Adams supported by Secretary Delia Barcelona, to lead the Working Group to design and prepare for the next Council. The idea for entire Working Group to co-design the next Council session.
Thank you for all your feedback and suggestions (See Annex A). This has been consolidated and organized as follows:
1. Content/substance (what should be discussed)
2. Format/structure (how the Council sessions should be organized);
3. Preparations/process (what should happen before and during the Council)
4. Other comments.
Secondly, I want to thank Associations who have nominated candidates to serve in the Working Group. I hope you will understand that we could not accommodate all suggestions as we need to keep the composition small to be able to work effectively. I am optimistic that the Group will try to broadly represent your views, and take into account the many valuable comments and suggestions from Member Associations around the globe.
In consultation with the Bureau, I am pleased to inform you of the composition of this FAFICS 57 Working Group,:

Jacques Rao, AFUS Paris
Thetis Mangahas, AFICS Philippines

Please see Terms of Reference for this group in Annex B. I look forward to this group getting started with the work as soon as possible.
There will be an interim report issued by the Working Group for all Associations to provide input.
We all hope to see many of you, in person or virtual at the next Council scheduled for 19-23 July 2027 at the ILO Headquarters in Geneva.
Warm regards,
Darshak
