Elections and Terms

AFICS/New York holds elections every two years for its Governing Board and leadership roles. Members of the Governing Board serve four-year terms and can be re-elected once consecutively. After completing two terms, members must take a two-year break before becoming eligible for a third term, with a maximum service of twelve years.

Starting in 2026, elections will be held online only in the Spring, managed by an independent Nominating Committee. Board members standing for re-election do not participate in the Committee. All members receive email notifications with candidate information and voting instructions, with results announced at the Annual Assembly.

Leadership positions—President, First and Second Vice-Presidents, Treasurer, and Secretary—serve two-year terms. The Board may also appoint up to X honorary members.
